Bio

Mr. Walbesser is a proud University at Buffalo graduate, earning degrees in computer engineering (BS ’07) and law (JD ’10). He began his career as an engineer at Intel before transitioning to law, where he advised technology companies, entrepreneurs, and high-growth startups on intellectual property and complex commercial transactions. Jordan is currently Director and Senior Counsel, Legal & Business Affairs at Mattel, where he leads legal strategy for the company’s AI, digital gaming, and emerging technology initiatives. His work spans major global partnerships and platforms, including partnerships with companies such as Microsoft, OpenAI, Netflix, and leading game developers, as well as the development of AI-enabled products and digital experiences. He serves as co-chair of Mattel’s AI legal team and has played a key role in advancing the company’s approach to artificial intelligence and interactive entertainment. In addition to his corporate role, Jordan is an adjunct instructor at the University at Buffalo School of Law, where he has supported nearly 200 startups that have collectively raised over $300 million and created thousands of jobs. He is also the founder of BootSector, a nonprofit organization focused on supporting the next generation of entrepreneurs. Jordan has been actively involved with UB’s alumni community since 2016 and currently serves on the UB Alumni Association Board of Directors. Through his work, he is committed to strengthening connections between UB and its global alumni network and supporting future innovators and engineers.
